Bornstedt Royal Estate
The Bornstedt Royal estate is situated within walking distance from Sanssouci Park.
The former summer residence of Friedrich Wilhelm, crown prince from the house of Hohenzollern and later Emperor Friedrich III, and of his wife Victoria conforms to the world famous ensemble of palaces and gardens in Potsdam and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
Already the Great Elector had bought the grounds for agricultural use in 1664. From 1734 the estate was run by the Great Military Orphanage. After destruction by fire the estate was rebuilt by Johann Heinrich Haeberlin from 1846. Peter Joseph Lenné and Emil Sello designed the gardens.
